‘It’s pertinent that journeys are a key theme across this bright anthology; the shuttle of memory moving between the present and the past; the poems as evidence of this for the future. Check Hope Remains takes its title from a line in Pandora and the Ballot by Micke Farren. Each poem in this anthology engages, wrestles with, implies, or proclaims – hope. Steeped in a poetics imbued with chromatics, this is a hope whose cartography is coloured and the synesthetic. Each writer is mapping what is experienced into language.’ -Rommi Smith
Started in 2012, Rommi Smith’s Poetry Workshop is a dynamic workshop space which facilitates the nurturing and development of writers. With a focus on writing for both publication and performance, group members have performed at festivals and venues including Love Arts Festival, Ilkey Literature Festival, The Leeds Library, and Hyde Park Book Club.
